Rising
“Rising” - 24x24" acrylic, gold accents and oil over collage on a gallery edge canvas.
Painting this lion rising from the water had me thinking about the significance of immersion as we go through seasons and cycles of refinement, renewal and rededication.
Seasons of rest and refocus give the warrior within us a chance to reset, wash away the road dust and leave the old identity or outgrown purposes behind. Immersion can be literal, in water (I'm a big fan) or it can be in a place of ministering that is like a pool- words (The Word) that speak life, healing, destiny. We can come, set aside our weariness, and allow our sore limbs to be buoyed by the water for a moment, and submerge ourselves entirely to wash away the battle fatigue, the things that no longer serve our greater purpose. And then - we reappear. Renewed, reconsecrated, refocused, rising in confidence to meet the future with a fresh awareness that we aren't fighting alone or even by our own power.
We may have been through some battles, but it's time to re-immerse, to refresh, to drink deeply, to be healed. It's time for the next season - and God's got this.
