Grace
“Grace” - original painting on canvas. The fifth in a series of Kintsugi inspired paintings.
Kintsugi is the art of repairing broken pottery with gold and laquer to make a once broken vessel into an even more beautiful vessel, with new purpose and potential.
Painting kinsugi pieces as a subject has been an interesting concept to examine - the idea that a vessel or a person can be broken but mended and made into something that is in the same shape as it was before but now a totally different being, with the addition of the mending material. It's even more beautiful, for all it's imperfections. For me, the dove represents the Holy Spirit, the presence of a gentle guide, a companion for the journey, present for each vessel in a unique way.
20”x24” Oil over layers of collage, texture, gold leafing, ink and acrylic on gallery edge canvas. Ready for hanging
